Steve Germain Sponsors “In Christy’s Shoes” Event
This Wednesday, May 22, Steve Germain dealerships will be sponsoring the 5th annual In Christy’s Shoes event here in Columbus, Ohio. We’re expecting a turnout of 650 people, all coming together to help raise money for a truly noble cause.
In Christy’s Shoes began back in 2009, when Christy Levy Peters passed away after a courageous battle with terminal brain cancer. To commemorate Christy’s dedication to helping—and to shoes—the organization was launched, joining forces with Dress for Success Columbus, which helps women getting back into the work force. Specifically, In Christy’s Shoes raises funds to help with clothing and shoe donations for Dress for Success. In Christy’s Shoes also partners with Zusman Hospice at Wexner Heritage Village, where Christy spent her final six months.
Tickets for the event this Wednesday cost $60, which includes valet service, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, and a silent auction (for items donated by local businesses, some inspiring artwork, and even shoes autographed by celebrities). Kristyn Hartman of 10TV will emcee the event, which will feature famous designer, Aruna Seth, whose designs have graced the red carpet all around the globe, worn by women such as Kate Hudson, Andie McDowell, and Kate Middleton.

Toyota and the Vincentric Value Awards
Vincentric just released the results of the 2013 Best Value in America Awards. We at Steve Germain expected to see a few Toyotas dominate in their respective segments, but we were completely blown away by the results. Not only did the Japanese automaker earn more awards than any other nameplate, it totally decimated the competition, bringing in more than double most of what other car brands were awarded.
In total, Toyota snatched up eleven different distinctions. It won the overall Best Value award for passenger car brands. On top of that, it raked in five individual passenger car award categories: the Avalon in the large sedan segment, the Camry in the mid-size sedan segment, the Camry Hybrid in the mid-size sedan hybrid segment, the Prius c in the compact hybrid segment, and the Prius Plug-in Hybrid in the electric/plug-in hybrid segment.
In the truck division, Toyota brought home another Best Value honor: the Tacoma in the compact pickup division. In addition, four Toyotas earned Best Value rankings in the sport utilities, crossovers, and vans category: the Highlander in the mid-size crossover division, the Highlander Hybrid in the crossover hybrid division, the 4Runner in the mid-size SUV division, and the Land Cruiser in the mid-size premium SUV division.

New Generation Porsche 911 Turbo Introduced for 40 Year Anniversary
The first Porsche 911 debuted 50 years ago. Ten year later, the 911 Turbo was introduced. This year marks its 40th anniversary, and along with that, Porsche has decided to debut the new generation 911 Turbo and Turbo S.
The 2014 Porsche Turbo and Turbo S will have many new features and improvements. Some of these features are a new all-wheel drive system, active rear axle steering, adaptive aerodynamics, and full LED headlights. The Turbo will also offer a new chassis with a lightweight design, a 3.9-inch longer wheelbase, and 20-inch wheels.
Being offered for the first time in the 911 Turbo is Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, an active anti-roll system, which will increase dynamic performance. The Turbo S will deliver up to 560 horsepower with its flat six-cylinder engine and twin-turbochargers. The Turbo will deliver 520 horsepower.

This is the highest possible rating a vehicle can receive!

New Porsche Panamera Hybrid Debuts
At the Shanghai Auto Show, Porsche debuted their new Panamera S E-Hybrid. The new hybrid is set to launch towards the end of this year, and has a starting price of $99,000. So what’s new in the E-Hybrid, you ask? Compared to the previous S Hybrid, the E-Hybrid has an improved battery and electric motor.
With the new battery, the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid can be fully charged in 150 minutes.The previous electric motor delivered 47 horsepower; the new motor delivers 95 horsepower. The hybrid’s performance is showcased in its ability to go from 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds.
Other Panamera models showcased in Shanghai include the Panamera S and Panamera 4S. They both have a new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. Both Porsche cars have extended wheelbases as well.

Steve Germain Dealerships Partake in Evening of Hope Charity Event
The Evening of Hope event will occur this weekend, Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 8 p.m. at Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio. This is an annual charity event which benefits the Center for Family Safety and Healing. The event will be held at Bon Vie Bistro and Wine Bar for a night of cocktails and dancing. Germain Mercedes-Benz of Easton and Germain Cadillac of Easton are proudly sponsoring the coffee bar and providing courtesy transportation to guests following the event.
Columbus residents are able to reserve their tickets online on the Nationwide Children’s website. Reservations for the Evening of Hope cost $150. The VIP Mix & Mingle, which begins at 7p.m. and includes the Evening of Hope, costs $250. Valet parking will be provided.
All proceeds will directly benefit the Center for Family Safety and Healing. This event has raised over $2 million dollars since its inception, and we hope the successful event this weekend will help contribute even more. Join us in ridding the world of family violence!

Maintain Your Fluids, Reduce Maintenance Costs
As much as we enjoy seeing you in the shop, we like for our customers to avoid unnecessary repairs! Our Steve Germain dealerships understand the risk you run if you don’t properly care for your fluids. Fluids are the lifeblood of your car, and not maintaining the essential levels can harm you car.
In order to avoid an increase to your maintenance costs and need for repairs, it’s important to maintain at least these six fluids as recommended:
- Engine Oil- Turn your engine off and check your oil on a level surface with the dipstick. Make sure not to overfill when adding oil
- Transmission Fluid- Keep you engine running and check the fluid with a dipstick. If the fluid is brown or smells burnt, have it checked immediately
- Power Steering Fluid- Depending on your car, check the levels visually or with your dipstick. The fluid should stay level, so if you need to add fluid have it checked for a leak
- Brake Fluid- Check the side reservoir marking to measure levels. If your fluids drop below 2/3 full, take your car in for a check
- Coolant- Give your car time to cool down before checking the reservoir. Measure the level indicators and add as necessary
- Windshield Washer Fluid- Check the reservoir chamber every week to keep it full
Though cars vary on recommended maintenance schedules, the following are common estimates on when to change fluids based on miles:
- Engine Oil: every 3,000 miles
- Transmission Fluid: every 30,000 miles
- Power Steering Fluid: every 50,000 miles
- Coolant: every 30,000 miles
